At the centre of the line was the heavily fortified town of Cassino, which was dominated by a sixth century Benedictine monastery. Round the World in 21 Days (1951)
One of a series of stunts to promote Austin cars in the all important post War market of North America. Leonard Lord, the head of Austin, bet Alan Hess, of the publicity department, half a crown, that he could not drive round the world in 30 days in a Jensen bodied Austin A40 Sports. Considerably helped by a KLM cargo aircraft, Hess and his team win their bet.

The car introduces itself and guides the viewer through the potential joys of ownership and the many roles that it can undertake. Rigorous testing of prototypes is shown as well as a detailed examination of the new production lines at Longbridge.

These two beautifully crafted films were made to launch the Austin and Morris versions of BMC's 1100, designed by Alec Issigonis. They revolve around a newspaper reporter's investigation into how different people use their new cars. The result is compulsive viewing and contains much fascinating material including interviews with Alec Issigonis, Alex Moulton and John Cooper. Paddy Hopkirk and Christabel Carlisle are featured using their 1100s to drive to motor races where they are competing in Mini Coopers.

The two versions of Breakthrough are a monument to what became known during the BMC period as badge engineering. BMC operated two main sales companies, Austin & Morris, which competed with each other. The British Motor Car (1963)
This important production uses an extraordinary selection of archive film to give an historic overview of the companies that came together in 1952 to form the British Motor Corporation. The producers of this film discovered neglected and forgotten film in BMC factories and buildings all over the country. The footage they found formed the basis of today's BMIHT film archive. The BMC story is seen from the point of view of William Morris, later to become Lord Nuffield, and takes us through to the developments and production of the 1960s, including the Mini.
